I'm noticing that the best memories of my life aren't made by myself, or with new friends, but with the people that have supported me from the beginning of my journey. Every spring and fall Tanger Outlets (in Mebane, NC) allow....Read More
One trend from the Men's Fashion Weeks that you might have taken note of was the constant over-sized tartan and plaid trend from brands like Ralph Lauren, Versace and DSquared2. When you think of Britain and it's famous characters (James Bond, Sherlock Holmes), but go window shopping and look...Read More
A lot of people were confused by Justin TImberlake's super bowl outfit. I have received several messages on Instagram (I'm not much of a salesman, but make sure you follow me on The Gram). Why was there a picture on his shirt? What's up with that paint splat window pane on his jacket? Why are his top and bottom...Read More
The red carpet is normally when we see traditional tailoring displayed at it's best. Black tuxedos, midnight blue blazers, black bow ties and subtle details flood the red carpet. There was nothing subtle about the tailoring displayed (with one exception) at the Black Panther Premiere, specifically from Donald...Read More
Yesterday the MTV EMA's (Europe Music Awards) attracted some of the biggest names in music. I had my popcorn ready, but not for the same reasons as the millions who watched. The red carpet was full of trends that are worth noting and full of trends that the average gent (#menswear) can add to his wardrobe.Read More
Last Thursday I had the opportunity to collaborate with TangerOutlets in Mebane, NC to preview the collections for Fall/Winter in a few of their stores. This is the second time that Tanger has held this event with the last time being in Spring (hey Tanger, can we do this maybe...once a week?) which was obviously a blast.Read More
Last week I partnered with the NFL on their #letsplayfootball campaign where I posted a picture on Instagram emphasizing the importance of getting active and playing football (instead of always watching it, which I've been guilty of since the age of 4).Read More
Ah, those silk, cashmere and linen pieces of art that men dread to wear in 2017. If you're a menswear freak like me, then you see them as a beautiful thing. If not, you probably see them as a burden. Its ok, because I view cooking, ironing and taking out the trash as burdens. That doesn't excuse the fact that they're simply things that...Read More
Have you ever wish you could round up a couple thousand dollars and buy everything your wardrobe needs at one time in one store? I know this is every young man's dream but the problem is finding the right store to do so...Read More
The majority of this blogging/personal branding thing consists of me being hunched over a laptop writing, reading or editing. There are days like last Wednesday that I'll look back on as one of the best days of my blogging career.
"A social media takeover is when an influencer, employee, or customer has access to a brand's social media account for a certain period of time."
So, what happened? I took over rue21's social media pages for a day to give people back to school shopping tips while I was back-to-school shopping for myself (rue21 gave me a $200.00 gift card to do so). With 767,000 Instagram followers, 36,000 Twitter followers, and 50k snapchat views during my takeover, rue21 has a social media influence of almost a million people. This was a little nerve racking and a lot of pressure - I mean, that's 1.6 MILLION eyeballs!
A social media takeover is when an influencer, employee, or customer has access to a brand's social media account for a certain period of time. A takeover can last a few minutes, hours, a day or a whole week. During this period of time, the brand's audience is presented with a new face for a refreshing perspective and a real human connection.
"All of this human interaction wasn't a burden, in fact it was a blessing."
And boy did I get a human connection.
I was getting over 150 snaps per hour, tons of DM's, and so many comments that I told the rue21 employees "I think I'm gonna get carpal tunnel". All of this human interaction wasn't a burden, in fact it was a blessing. I'm so lucky to have an opportunity that very few people get in life and I'm still in (what I feel like is) the beginning of my career in this men's fashion space.
Thank you to all of my new followers that transitioned over from the takeover and my loyal fans who have been following me since day-wheneveryoustartedfollowingme. It's opportunities like this that help expand the amount of people I can reach and keep me excited about what I do. Also, thank you to rue21 for being one of the first brands to believe in me and my personal brand. They were one of the first handful of brands to sponsor me and our relationship has flourished since.
Cheers to the future!
