Not being a country music fan myself, there are very few (if any) things I could've taken away from the CMT awards last night. There was plenty you could've learned, such as how to keep a well-groomed beard, or how to not honor country music at a country music award show. Something we do have in common though, fellow Tailor Made reader, is that there are two style lessons we can take away from the star-studded night.
Date night outfits and 'summerizing' a suit are the two main codes being cracked across mens fashion blogs and publications across the internet. If you had a pen and paper, or your good memory in check, Mr. Sam Hunt and Thomas Rhett showed us how to dress for a night out and how to dress down your favorite suit this summer.
Simple and Clean
We're all for all black and bold prints. If more guys dressed like this on dates (along with the complimentary biceps and chiseled jaw line) there'd be no competition. Take Hunt's lead in making sure that your shirt sleeves reach the mid-way point between your elbow and shoulder, along with having the boldness to tuck in a slim fit polo. If you do this, make sure you invest in a slim belt that's worth showing off.
The tuxedo jacket takes this outfit from an 8 to a 9.5. There's no better way to exude confidence than to wear a tuxedo the way that 99% of the population is afraid to. The details from the black shirt lining, to black peak lapels and crisp white sneakers are what set Mr. Rhett apart. If you're not bold enough to opt for a "crest white" pair of sneakers, go with a black or navy pair that creates a flattering streamline look.
