You've seen it on the logo, you've seen it on my collar (if you know me personally), now you see it on Tailor Made. For years now, the bow tie has been a staple not only in my wardrobe but in my life. This outfit was a challenge, as this was a day when I had to make a good first impression, yet still be comfortable enough to explore the city afterwards. The result is a genre of style that I like to call "Chic Street". Part 2 for the ladies is coming out on Tuesday!
To dress up (Chic) this look, from the waist up you can either go with a bow tie, like yours truly, or a knit neck tie (If I wore neck ties, knit ties are the only type that I'd wear). A pocket square casually stuffed in your jacket pocket is perfect for any occasion when you need to be half dress-up half dressed-down.
The casual (street) part of this outfit comprises of a light wash pair of jeans along with a little ankle cleavage to add to the laid back feel of this look. Chic-Street is my favorite way to dress because it shows that you can look good, while at the same time looking like you didn't try at all.
I did go a little formal from the waist up, but if you're not comfortable going this far then you can still vamp up your "Chic and Street" style. Here are a few ways you can do so:
Blazer or Sportcoat + Casual button down/Dress Shirt + Pocket square + Jeans/Khakis + a pair of dress shoes
Blazer or Sportcoat + Shirt and tie (don't feel pressured to wear a pocket square, but if you have one then wear it) + Jeans + A pair of casual trainers/sneakers
Blazer or Sportcoat + Casual button down/Dress Shirt + Pocket square + Jeans/Khakis + Casual loafers or driving moccasins
When should you aim for chic-street when putting together your look for the day?

An event where the dress code is 'business casual' or 'smart casual'
