The Christmas season is one of the best times of the year without a doubt. Although the weather isn't too friendly, friends and family join to make up for time not spent together due to our busy lives all year long. These days, the Christmas season starts at about 6:00pm on Thanksgiving evening as soon as the Turkey has been 'scarfed' down.
One vague memory that I have of Thanksgiving growing up is seeing cheap paper with retail sales advertisements on them on the table as dinner was done. Having no interest in fashion, or shopping growing up, I just quite didn't understand. Now after being on both ends of the spectrum (working retail on Black Friday, and shopping on Black Friday) I'm now like a kid waiting next to the tree on Christmas Day after I've saved up for the night of deals and "steals".
Instead of taking the smart route and getting gift-shopping out of the way, I always end up mostly buying a few winter pieces for myself as late November is when the weather is topcoat worthy. Speaking of topcoats, this one from Old Navy is a new friend I made that I can't get my hands off of.
A coat like this is a masculine piece that you can layer over a suit or a casual look like this. I also picked up this elegant shawl collar sweater and these functional, yet stylish boots from Perry Ellis.
