Noteworthy Trends from the MTV EMA's

Yesterday the MTV EMA's (Europe Music Awards) attracted some of the biggest names in music. I had my popcorn ready, but not for the same reasons as the millions who watched (ah, the life of a menswear enthusiast). The red carpet was full of trends that are worth noting and full of trends that the average gent (usually a #menswear user on Instagram) can add to his wardrobe.

Diminished and Distressed

Here's a news flash: millennials like to wear ripped clothing. Rappers among the likes of Swae Lee and Travis Scott have led the way and let you know on the Red Carpet yesterday. Whose allowed to wear this trend? Anyone under the age of 25/30 who's clocked out from work, and anyone living the lifestyle of (or similar to) a rapper.

Suiting NOT Meant For The Office

Some were a tad bit shiny, some were a tad bit too formal, and some included prints that are appropriate for only Instagram and the red carpet. There's a rumor that today's young man doesn't enjoy wearing suits, but that's 100% sartorial slander. Men under 30 love wearing suits, just not the kind that Don Draper or your 58 year old hedge fund uncle would wear. Shiny tailoring materials for ties and suits are recommended for any man who enjoys going out on the weekends, and loud prints for special events and Instagram fake-candids.

Power Color of the Year

Red is the color that without a doubt catches the human eye more than anything else. Celebrities used the color to not only compliment the rest of their outfit but the ground they walked on.
